Lara treats all types of conditions that involve the Jaw.  Despite her focus on Jaw pain and disfunction, Lara understands the complex nature of Jaw pain and is very familiar with treating conditions closely associated with Jaw conditions, like headache, migraine, neck conditions and chronic pain conditions. If you are unsure if your condition is treated here, give Lara a call, she will be happy to talk to you and help determine this for you.

Does Medicare cover my treatment?

Our Physiotherapist is registered with Medicare. If you have a chronic medical condition with complex needs and your doctor has coordinated a Team Care Arrangement as part of the GP Management Plan, then Medicare will refund a basic fee towards each Physiotherapy visit. Your doctor will specify the number of Physiotherapy visits to be covered by the plan (up to a maximum of 5 in a calendar year).

Can I claim on my Private Health Insurance?

Yes. We will provide you with a receipt that you can send to your insurance company to receive your rebate.

You may wish to check with your health fund to find out how much they will pay towards your visit, for this you will require the following codes:

P500 is our initial treatment

P505 is for subsequent treatments 

Are your Practitioners qualified in Dry Needling?

Yes. Your Physiotherapist will be happy to discuss incorporation of Dry Needling into your treatment plan. If Dry Needling has worked particularly well for you in the past, let Lara know.

Can you help if I was hurt at work?

Yes, we will happily help with your recovery. However, we will bill you as a private patient, and you will be able to claim some or all of these costs directly from Work Safe.

Can you help if I was hurt in a car accident?

Yes, we can certainly help your recovery from injuries associated with car accidents. It is quite astounding how often Jaw conditions originate from a car accident. If you have a TAC or insurance claim associated with the accident, we will bill you as a private patient, and you will be able to claim some or all of these costs directly from TAC. 

Do you treat patients who are covered by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs? 

Yes, we are registered to provide treatment for patients who are covered by Veteran’s Affairs.

Is there parking available at the clinic?

Yes. There is plenty of unrestricted on street parking outside the clinic. 

Do I need to bring a referral?

Although some people bring referrals from their medical practitioner, specialist or dentist, a referral is not required for Physiotherapy except for TAC or Workcover related treatment. 

Should I bring x-rays and scans to my appointment?

Yes, relevant x-rays and scans are very helpful. 

Do you do massage?

At My Jaw Physio, massage is used a lot in treatments. However, other techniques such as joint mobilisation, stretching, traction and education are used too. If you have a strong preference for or against massage being part of your treatment, this can be accommodated. 

Will my Physiotherapist treat more than one person at a time?

No, this never happens at My Jaw Physio. You will enjoy individual attention during your treatment. 

Do you have rooms or curtained areas?

All our treatments are in private treatment rooms. Our treatment rooms have floor to ceiling walls. Your comfort and privacy is a priority.
